STILL WATERS RUN DEEP by Imogen Bastone
152 x 203mm, 80 pages, Colour printing, Perfect bound, Softcover, 2022
A collection of poetry written over the course of a year, experiencing all the seasons with a site of ancient woodland. The poetry tells the story of how our relationship grew, and the story of how we came to exist together. The principle of the book is to illustrate how we have become so detached from the natural world, and only by engaging in conversation with it, we may re-learn some of the ancient lessons nature has taught us, that we seem to have forgotten in this modern world. The crow is a lingering figure in the book, because she serves as my association with that forest, as a messenger between my world and the world of ancient trees.
