‘The Holos’ is a six-part tech noir series, the first volume of an ongoing series, set in near- future Shanghai. Private Detective Joseph Flood spends more of his time in cocktail bars than he spends working on cases. Actually, he leaves most of his day-to-day work to his holographic digital avatar, Joe. Everyone in this future version of China has a “Holo” to help maximise their work productivity - in fact, it’s illegal not to have one. However, this doesn’t stop a growing underground movement of people from wanting to disconnect from these ultra-efficient and idealised digital versions of themselves.
