VULNERABILITY HANGOVER by Anna Tokareva
65 x 135mm, 22 pages, Colour printing, Comes in phone case, Hand numbered edition of 15, 2024
vulnerability hangover explores the navigation of adult friendship spanning oceans, mediated by digital tools. It was written in a series of fragments via the iPhone Notes app. I started with a title related to friendship, then selected one of three words suggested by predictive text, building up a short paragraph word by word.
The final short fiction recalls drunken messages left on read at 3am; self-consciously long voice notes; confessions made under the guise of intoxication. It’s also a nod to recent developments in AI generated text, while using its sub-par predecessor, predictive text — another layer of awkward blunder in emotional communication.
