NOT QUITE WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: SELECTED POEMS 2017-2025 by Jim Clarke

A5, 121 pages, Black & white printing, Perfect bound, Softcover, 2025

'It begins with a terminus. It's the end of the line. And
these are lives so many of us live, lonely, desperate and
wholly lacking in any drama.
Not expecting pity, not feeling entitled to it, and stripped
of all but the most necessary illusions.
We lack talent, we lack drive, we lack application, but of
course, we have feelings too. So why shouldn't we write
poems?'

These poems speak with searing honesty from inside the vacuum of parenting, low-paid work, and the ache for something more. Jim emerged from the early blogging scene gathered around the k-punk nexus, where a search for meaning flickered amid late-capitalist collapse. These pieces are the fronds and shoots that survived.
