NO PICNIC: EXPLORATIONS IN ART AND RESEARCH by Various Artists

170 x 240mm, 108 pages, Colour printing, Perfect bound, Softcover, 2014

The book documents what happened when researchers and artists explored each others' working practices and methods. The project was sited at Furnace Park, a wasteland in Sheffield.

The participants incorporated artistic practices in their research techniques, often alongside events in the wasteland. The project addressed the approaches we take individually and collectively within art, science and investigation.

The book asks what is research, how should it be carried out, and how should a university involve the wider community in these activities? A supplement detailing responses to the book was printed in a fetching risograph green.

Edited by Matthew Cheeseman and designed by Article, the book includes work by Alison Beck, Caroline Evans, Bob Levene, Jonathan Paragreen, Hester Reeve, Arne Schröder and Sarah Spencer.
