IT'S NOT A PILL I NEED BUT A SEWER TO JUMP IN by Fritz Welch

180x240mm, 152 pages, a mix of full colour printing and risograph, perfect bound, softcover, 2024

The book surveys an extensive archive of Welch's practice across drawing, collage and sculpture, published alongside sometimes candid and otherwise formal documentation of live performances, snapshots of friends, family and incidental moments which collapse the boundary between art making and life making. Here, art making is a daily practice, whether in the studio, at the gig, or with many of his extensive network of collaborators. In his practice, Welch employs drums, ink, voice, objects, movement, paint and language in order to transmutate imagined and appropriated elements from science fiction, body horror, underground comics and disposable pop culture detritus and produce works packed with abject humour and weird pathos.

The book includes an introduction by Ian Christe, an interview between Fritz Welch and L.A. Angelmaker, and two responsive texts from Alex Baggaley and Jessica Higgins.
