ICED LEMON WATER by Steve Mallon
A5, 56 pages, Black & white, Saddle stitched, Softcover, Ed. of 30, 2020
Iced Lemon Water explores a narrative world of trauma, wealth and excess. Written in haiku format, the poems act as snapshots into the protagonists’ chaotic and directionless lives, their sparse form aiming to reflect a sense of detachment that is present in troubled, affluent youth culture. Treading a line between playful and sombre, like the part of the night where a party stops being fun or the regret-filled morning after, the collection considers the fate of a demographic who can’t, or won’t, grow up.
