GIRLS GONE WILD 2 [ASHCAN EDITION] by Katie Lane

165 x 255mm, 24 pages, Colour printing, Saddle stitched, Softcover, 2026

Everyone has a mother. Girls Gone Wild 2 continues. The comic opens up with a teacher being recorded by her students as she monologues. She is going through what appears to be some kind of psychosis. Claustrophobic close-ups mirror the affect. Deeper into the comic, in another scene the close-ups take a bit of a step back, painting the girls as they talk about mothers, relationships, and secrets with a kind of intimacy and camaraderie.

Girls Gone Wild is heavily photo referenced, modeled after what appears to be friends and peers of the author, with the artist herself forming one of the lead characters. A unique conceit that rhymes paper-actress fiction with the authors reality. A parallel might be something like work from KIRAC or Caveh Zahedi if it were drawn into 2 dimensions, printed and folded into a fictional comic book series.
