aspects of the morning In this publication (and equivocal performance score) Helen sets out to explore, concertina, destabilise and exhale her experiences and understanding of time, landscape, and the significance of place. Inner landscapes and multiple outer worlds are probed and mingled to create a work that manipulates texts, sound and icons whose original sources are myriad. Utilising a single morning along the river Lea as inspiration, frame, and re/source, Helen gleans, reinterprets, translates and redacts media creating multi-source landscapes that are layered and sensory rich. The reader is invited to meander through ekphrasis, mimesis, onomatopoeia and linguistic experiments that link, pucker, and pull at the seams of a landscape entered into and resonated with. "'aspects of the morning' is a pillow book to the river Lea (London). It is a spatial poem beginning at dawn and following the river’s course until noon, portraying as a splay of seemingly disassociated words on the page, helen’s deep acoustic and ecological sensibility. ecological in its writing – multilayered and many-voiced – the open lattice of the text acts as a perfume, encouraging the reader to linger and drift through an alternative time, sound and light."
