A CATHARTIC TURN OF EVENTS by Sam Connor
A5, 40 pages, black and white printing, saddle stitched, 2021
A CATHARTIC TURN OF EVENTS is a zine directly influenced by my personal experience with depression - specifically the liminality of the healing process. It focuses on the paralysing feeling of being stuck in a constant state of transition, and aims to replicate the disorienting disposition that comes as a result of it. This zine is an effort to become more open with my mental health than I ever have been before. It’s a window into my mind when fighting depression - a self-inflicted sense of clarity I have always needed. It equips a level of vulnerability that is brand new to me, which is both terrifying and exciting. The zine is 44 pages long and contains a collection of experimental photography, paintings, ink print and writing. It is available to purchase now. …You don’t have to buy it, though. This project means a lot to me, and I want it to be available to everyone, regardless of a price. If you are interested, I will send you a free abridged digital version. All you need to do is DM me on instagram - @untitledsam.
