PINK WITCH by Various Authors
105 x 170mm, 108 pages, Black & white printing, Perfect bound, Softcover, 2024
Pink Witch is a dynamic collection of poems inspired by the 2023 movie Barbie and the Witches of Scotland Campaign. The poems range in focus from the modern to the medieval; from searing indictments of the witch trials to reclaiming witchhood in the present day; from childhood nostalgia to ruminations on motherhood. Barbies and witches are both concepts of femininity. They are both symbols of womanhood. In different ways, these symbols have been reviled, reinvented, reclaimed, reinterpreted. They are both products of patriarchy and patriarchal fantasy. They exist within and without the male gaze. Barbies and witches have been historically voiceless. In this collection, they are anything but silent. In a time when feminism feels under threat as much as ever, the poets of Pink Witch have created a powerful anthology to womanhood in all its guises – but two in particular.
Contributors include Janette Ayachi, Tessa Berring, Anne-Laure Coxam, Lynn Davidson, Jane Goldman, Saskia McCracken, Alycia Pirmohamed, Vik Shirley, Maria Sledmere, Alice Tarbuck, JL Williams.
