Each poem is light and held, the way breath can be. The way worry is. Hope too. Emily has done a fantastic job weaving quiet narratives and context so that each poem is an instance rendered backwards and forward in time. I love the strong clear drive and detail of these poems that are of mothers and daughters, of what and who we are, who we are like, how our bodies express what we hold onto, what we choose, what we take in. These are beautiful poems. Sensual, intimate, smart. A beautiful collection to breathe into, put aside, revisit.
