PERFORATED EARDRUM by Clara Heathcock and Patrick Wray
A4, 40 pages, full colour digital printing throughout, perfect bound, 2018.
‘Written by Clara Heathcock, art by Patrick Wray.
Hi, I'm Clara, I'm a music critic and my eardrum exploded. I was told I'd make a full recovery, but as part of my treatment I wasn't allowed to listen to music for two months.
Perforated Eardrum, originally comissioned as a series of autobiographical essays for The 405, tells the story of the time I lost the ability to listen to anything for pleasure. About what I craved to hear and why, and what I could only realise about the way I have always tried to make sense of my life through music when it was gone.’
