THE RECURSIVE STATE OF TWO SELVES by Cameron Harris

105 x 169mm, 78 pages, Black & white printing, Perfect bound, Softcover, 2025

This work is a multi-narrative ethnographic investigation into self-contained ecosystems, developed through empirically led observations of pond and freshwater variants. Samples are housed in 1.5 litre airtight containers, each containing the conditions necessary for self-sustained life. The ecosystems – comprising a variety of plants, invertebrates, and microbes are sourced from the Ravensbourne River, which runs through South East London from Bromley to Deptford Creek. Its multi-narrative ethnographic response explores British cybernetics, systems theory, and the actor network as methods of ontological discourse and dualistic critique in tandem to empirical observations.
