Topographia Nova is a publication about the visual research for an installation at the Bavarian State Library in Munich. The actual work consists of a printed frieze forming a mesh of etching and pencil drawing. Historical maps and plans of Munich from the library’s collection were integrated as subtle motifs in the process. The publication brings together a montage of text and image starting out from archive material, interspersed with sketches and prints, and ending with photographic documentation of the installation. The material is accompanied by a prose poem written by Louis Lüthi.
