SLUT SHAMING by Fleur D
206 x 286mm, 28 pages, Risograph printed, Staple bound, Ed of 50, 2018.
Slut Shaming is a project started in 2013 from sketchbook drawings, notes and personal research. During this period, Fleur D produced 30 drawings – black ink on paper. This project was completed in June 2018 with a fanzine printing, limited edition of 50 copies, in risography.
The fanzine consists of a selection of drawings (2013 – 2018) and written texts, inspired by her notes and construction of poetry writing. Silence disrupted by words irruption, with fragmented words and phrases, in exploring links and ambivalences between image and text.
In her drawings, Fleur D evokes the presence of death – nothingness – emptiness – and loss of self. She represents meticulously scenes where time is like suspended, scrambled, the drawing is dark. Narration is created by linking – or not – images between them. She draws from her personal experiences to explore narrative potential, in mixing representations of elements from real with dreamlike scenes, between fiction and reality.
