SIGHTS by Henry McCausland
170 x 240mm, 72 pages, full colour printing, perfect bound, cloth hardcover, tip on image, 2018 - text in French and English
The first book dedicated to the English artist Henry McCausland, SIGHTS offers an excursion into the world of the painter through a selection of 33 works on paper. We enter this book as we take a path, our gaze is guided by that of the artist, until we perceive human forms in the omnipresence of plants, impromptu encounters where the imagination flirts with representation. In the free field left to the solitary walker, observation leads to invention. Between naturalistic approach and dreamlike abstraction, the book shows the pictorial expanse of Henry McCausland, whose work is both able to skillfully suggest the familiar and to transport us elsewhere, in a landscape where only painting can lead.
