Nikko Gary is a multidisciplinary designer, working variously in film, design and photography. His work manages to evoke all of these disciplines while also pushing visuals into striking new places. Dense grids of portraiture become wholly new compositions, images are deeply saturated RGB eye candy, throwaway gestures are framed and amplified and presented in striking purposefulness. His work is personal and evocative, referencing lines from Clipse lyrics, surveillance video screen grabs and text chains from loved ones. His LAY—OUT contribution compiles a number of personal projects made in between his work for BUCK, High Snobiety and Boiler Room and includes a 230 x 380mm fold out poster of his excellent 2021 Juneteenth poster.
