GHOST TRAINS by Bhavani Balasubramanyam

120 x 160mm, 20 pages, Colour printing, Saddle stitched, Risograph printed covers, 2026

Ghost Trains reflects on the trains that carried refugees during the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, trains that left full but often arrived with corpses. Combining screen printing, charcoal, and hand-carved lino-cut stamps (carved on large sheets and cut into smaller pieces) with quotes from the Partition Museum and Project Dastaan, the project traces the scale of displacement and trauma. It began from a small drawing of Churchill and grew into a meditation on colonial violence, history, and the lingering echoes of Partition.
