ASPARAGUS ZINE ISSUE 1 by Various
A4 looseleaf publication, 6 sides held in card sleeve with additional editorial, edition of 80, 2019
"Asparagus Zine is a short run, loose leaf zine that bunches things together. Centring on a single theme, each issue follows the legacy or story of a single artwork and cuts a path through that topic with profiles and responses by contemporary artists. Each featured artwork or artist occupies an autonomous, folded insert.
Issue 1 follows the charming story of Manet’s Bunch of Asparagus (1880) and includes:
– ‘Indifferent Objects’. Jack Smurthwaite on Georges Bataille and Edouard Manet’s still lives with Victoria Adam and Bo Matteini
– ‘Asparagus Matters/On the politics of Asapragus’. Sasha Galitzine touching on Hans Haccke’s Manet-PROJEKT ’74 with Mick Rand
– An interview with Paloma Proudfoot
