UNDECIPHERED CHARACTERS by Various Artists
332 x 492mm, 16 pages, Colour printing, Unbound, Softcover, 2022
The Palace of Typographic Masonry is an (imaginary) institute for the splendour and variety of visual languages. In the building, visitors encounter a va riety of expressions and mysterious signs, made by Michèle Boulogne, Our Polite Society, Harriët van Reek, Edgar Walthert and Kristiāna Marija Sproģe for The Asemic Cabinet. These signs resemble a form of writing that can be understood as a so-callied 'asemic script.’ In this publication, designed by Richard Niessen, who also wrote an introduction, these character sets come together in pursuit of inexplicable meaning.
