I DID NOT WANT TO INTERRUPT THE MAN WHO WAS NOT THE OPTICIAN: A LOVE STORY by James Epps
A5, 12 pages, Black & white printing, Saddle stitched, Softcover, Edition of 200, 2025
'I did not want to interrupt the man who was not the optician: A love story' explores interactions between people, machines and objects during the course of a seemingly routine eye test.
James Epps is an artist, writer and researcher born in Norwich and based in Glasgow. His short stories exercise an attentiveness to objects and their relations in the world, recalling experiences, drawing out the particularities of moments; or speculating on situations, giving agency to things and materials. Like his visual practice, Epps' writing embraces misunderstanding, multiplicity and ambiguity with lightness and humour.
