SOFT TISSUE RARELY PRESERVES by Jane Hartshorn and Valeska Noemi

120 x 180mm, 32 pages, colour printing, stapled with belly band, 2023

Co-published with Valeska Noemi

This collaborative text explores the significance of the belongings a person accumulates over a lifetime; as material detritus after a person has passed away, as evidence of a life in the face of limiting and degenerative illness. What do we do with these objects when they are all we have left? How do we preserve them when they span media, are ephemeral, or difficult to store? How can we hold onto them? This body of work is the result of such questions, a meditation on the transience of identity and the attempt to locate a person in the objects that are left behind.
