‘Exchange’ maps a transformation of language, body and land into neo-futurist DNA. Structured as hybrid of poetry, text-based art, maps and illustrations, and featuring a combination of mainly English and some Greek, ‘Exchange’ takes the reader/performer through possibilities of expanding futures, exploring times where mortality of world citizens is radically replaced with help from surveying-based linguistics. ‘Exchange’ is a whirlwind, leaving behind poetic fragments of neo-futurist thought concerned with self-identity and belonging. It’s bold and unpredictable, almost in doubt of itself, perhaps due to the uncertainty of the future that it lives in. Having followed Papacharalampos for a while through his publications in Greece, it’s very exciting to read his first pamphlet in English. This is another futuristic gem from Hesterglock Press! – Astra Papachristodoulou ‘Exchange’ is an imaginary map of the elusive self. Or perhaps it is a cryptographic description of utopia, chopped into lines and blocks. Papacharalampos invites us to stroll through a poem, then scribbles us out just as we are getting comfortable. As the loopy footnote says, nothing would be the same. – James Knight Konstantinos Papacharalampos (London) works in poetry, performance, installation and regeneration, focusing on mutating futures. He is the author of three poetry books in Greek and one in English; ‘Exchange: a neo-futurist idiom mapping’ (Hesterglock Press 2020). His work has been exhibited in MOMus/ Museum of Contemporary Art (Greece) and archived as part of the Open Folios programme in MOMus/ Experimental Center for the Arts. His poems have been translated in German and Russian, and performed in the UK and Greece, including Kensington and Chelsea Art Week, European Poetry Festival, The Poetry Café, University of Brighton and Velorose Gallery. His work appeared in anthologies and magazines around the world including Litmus, Perspektive, ‘Futures: Poetry of the Greek Crisis’ (Penned in the Margins 2015), ‘Dichtung mit Biss’ (Freie Universität Berlin: Romiosini/ CeMoG 2018) and ‘Writing Utopia 2020’ (Hesterglock Press 2020), amongst others. His performance ‘Odysseus, give me a like’ was commissioned by the 62nd Philippi Festival.
