Crime Series (2020) is a collection of sociological fiction and poetry written during my PhD (2013-2018). Featuring a poem about Keir Starmer, when leadership of the Labour Party was just a twinkle in his eye, and gothic horror about property law among other things. This series of experimental ‘true crime’ fiction and poetry was created to playfully intervene in dominant ideas about crime and criminality. The works are based on a blend of criminological and sociological research (reading, interviews with people affected by criminal justice), news stories, rumours, fantasy, and personal experience.
