Class Of 2O2O by Various Artist (Ed. Jasmine Wong)
A4, 76 pages, full colour digital printing, perfect bound, 2020
“Created during the quarantine period, the goal of this project has always been to unite with one another regardless of our coordinates, forming a space like home within the confines of our literal homes. Since our conception, we’ve been able to build this community of youths online, recognizing that togetherness can live on in virtual spaces. To create something memorable to encapsulate these few months, we decided to create a zine, done almost completely online, with the team all in different countries. This Zine of 76 pages involves around 100 youths, from as young as 15, around the world: Singapore, the UK, Nigeria, Hong Kong, the US, Japan, and more. We wanted to create a place for them to tell their stories, and recognize their journeys (not just the results of their labour), be it through a 'creative' medium, or not. We’ve also created a section featuring 2020 graduates who may not have been able to graduate as they would have wished. Over the last few months, we have put our minds together to create this zine as a show of digital and emotional solidarity during a time of isolation, letting them answer the question: ‘Who do you want to be during the hardest times?’. As a non-profit initiative, the foundation of our project is rooted in helping others, therefore all proceeds of this zine will go towards our partner, GlobalGiving's Covid Relief Fund, and the Equal Justice Initiative in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The Class of 2020 is graduating from this year together.”
