REMMUS by Mikołaj Moskal
120 x 170, 40 pages, Colour printing, Glue bound, Softcover, Ed. of 500, 2021
“When living things bloom & molder all in a heartskip, when they expand toward death, this is what worms hear.”
Artist’s book of paintings by Polish artist Mikołaj Moskal: gouache, archival paper elements, simple & meaningful captions. “REMMUS” (as in the wane of summer) is a graft of Podlasie earth-water-sky and Mikołaj’s pigments, heart, and intuition. Designed in close collaboration with graphic artist and designer Kaja Gliwa. The paintings are bracketed by a poem each by Kuba Niklasiński (“Flows | Flaws”) and Stefan Lorenzutti (“What Worm Heard”), handwritten by Mikołaj in English and Polish. Moskal is a visual artist based in Kraków whose range encompasses the Carpathian highlands and Podlasie lowlands. His “TERYTORIUM” [Territory] project, of which “REMMUS” is an offshoot, is an open-ended layering of pigment and paper, influences and moments on this earth.
