“This publication was made on occasion of And, if we observe the present, an exhibition at Catalyst Arts in Belfast, 2021, featuring four artists who employ photography in their work: Kitsch Doom, Ben Malcomsom, Kate McElroy, and Dónal Talbot.

Before the exhibition was installed, three writers, Harvey Dimond, Lucie McLaughlin and Taiye Ojo, spent six weeks connecting with the artists through conversations about the development of the work. This collaboration allowed the writers to respond intuitively to the artwork, find new ways of making connections in a virtual space, and explore the conceptual framework through their writing practices. This process created unique relationships amongst the practitioners, and this has resulted in shared perspectives and creative outlooks, as they reflect on what the future means.”
