Publishing Class is an imprint of DAI Publications, a collection of artists’ books jointly published by the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) and – Office for Art, Design and Theory in collaboration with the Werkplaats Typografie. The DAI Publications collection consists of around 100 books that are printed in a limited edition of approximately 200 copies, these texts are the relics left by the participants of the DAI program; they are evidence of the work they engaged in at the DAI. The books also enter circulation, distributed by hand through local channels via collaborating institutions, and ultimately traveling to book fairs.

How to Live Together series, the third edition of Publishing Class, focuses on writing and publishing as a speculative tool and as a conduit through which communities are fostered. Over the course of a year the class sets out to 'publish' individually and / or collectively, with the aid of monthly guests. It is inspired by Roland Barthes' seminal 1977 lecture series that bears the same title. In that series Barthes developed the concept of 'idiorrythmy' to express a possible way of living together that preserved individual rhythms. Special guests to the class include: Hong-Kai Wang, Tea Hvala, Christian Nyampeta, Ayreen Anastas & Rene Gabri (16 Beaver), Pieter Verbeke & Elisabeth Klement (San Serriffe), Benjamin Thorel (castillo/corrales)

The concept and framework of Publishing Class is developed by Binna Choi, director of Casco. Yolande van der Heide, publishing coordinator of Casco, is the managing editor of the class.
