THE RIVER ISN'T YELLOW IN WINTER by Dave Ferrie
155mm x 217mm, 96 pages, full colour printing throughout, hardcover, perfect bound, 2020
These photographs were taken during the winter 2018 in Lanzhou, the largest city in China’s Gansu Province. The famous yellow river, which carves its way through the heart of the city, took me by surprise. Rather than the torrent of murky yellow water I had expected, I found a serene blue-green ribbon that seemed asleep, as if in a state of hibernation over the cold winter. I was informed that it isn’t until the spring, when the rains start, that the river lives up to its name and reputation.
