THE ANNUAL: JANUARY 2021 by isobel neviazsky

DAILY DRAWINGS is a project in which I draw a minimum of 3 drawings each day, this is in reaction to having so few drawings from 2020, despite the fact that I consider drawing to be the core of my practice. I share the drawings on Instagram everyday, but wanted to solidify the work in a physical realm as well, leading to THE ANNUAL.
THE ANNUAL is a project in which I collect one drawing each day from my DAILY DRAWINGS series.
The focus of my output is picture making and the main visual themes are working from life, drawings documenting life from memory, working from other art, and what I call drawings about drawings: this is making pictures where the main importance is spatial relationships of objects interacting with each other in the picture plane, most often utilising recurring motifs and symbols as a way of creating or exploring composition.
THE ANNUAL allows the viewer to experience the breadth of my practice, and to see the work in the volume it is created, the prolific output being an important aspect of my practice.
