IT HAD TO BE YOU by Nick Edwards
160 x 210mm, 40 pages, Black & white printing, Saddle stitched, Softcover, 2019
"Had a bad day? Well, Ob is probably faring worse. The plump and hapless hero can barely set foot outside his front door without stumbling into a car crash or being humiliated by his unsympathetic comrade-in-arms, Eck. Ob and his friends live in a fantastical yet oddly familiar city scattered across an island landscape. Everything is round, soft and cute, from the houses to the cars and sea creatures. But be careful: unlike much of Edward's previous work, It Had to Be You is not meant for children. Beneath its soft surface, the comic is a dark and tongue-in-cheek parody of modern life. The technology may be advanced and have produced things like toilets with integrated bowel movement analysis. But the characters of Ob's world have about as much compassion for one another as a bulldozer has for a fallen log. This is dark humor at its best."
